主讲老师简介（An introduction of the lecturer）：

Dr Costantino Moretti is an Ingénieur de Recherche at the École Pratique des Hautes Études, East Asian Civilisations Research Centre, Paris, France. His main fields of interest are Chinese Buddhism (with particular focus on the apocryphal scriptures and on the representations of the hells in Chinese Buddhist sūtras), Dunhuang manuscripts and codicology. He is currently teaching an introductory course on “Reading Medieval Chinese Manuscripts”, on the MA course at the École Pratique des Hautes Études.

Course Description: The general topic of my classes will focus on Chinese Buddhist scriptural tradition through the study of medieval manuscript sources. The course will be organized in two major parts. The first will analyze various topics liked with basic notions of Buddhist religious system and found mainly in Chinese apocrypha. The second part will revolve around codicology and the study of Medieval Chinese manuscripts, with particular focus on the Dunhuang material.
